A night of API poetry and stories seeking to spotlight multi-generational and diverse voices. At Nam-Jai, we will celebrate the transformative power of words and sharing to build a family of API artists and communities and continue the work to end injustice and reimagine love.
PERFORMANCES BY:
OSCAR PENARANDA…an educator, community leader, and published writer, Oscar enlightens with stories he inherited as well as experienced to lay foundations for future writers, historians, and community.
JADE CHO
…is a 19 year old, 3rd generation Chinese poet and activist. Jade was on the Youth Speaks Bay Area 2011 BNV Slam team, and is an important member of UC Berkeley’s CalSlam..

This event is also a benefit for flood relief in Thailand, and all proceeds will go to Nam-Jai for Thailand. The 2011 floods in Thailand have affected 9 million people and taken the lives of at least 366. Even the hardest hit areas will be underwater for at least 5 more weeks until clean-up can begin.

WHAT: API word open mic and showcase. For those seeking to write, we will have a separate workshop space during the beginning of the event.
