About
When I was a little girl I was very sure of many things. Fairies were real, as were ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and any other creatures most people thought imaginary. Books make excellent companions. Onions are gross. Ice cream is wonderful. And I was most definitely going to be an artist when I grew up.
That didn’t quite happen. During my high school art classes, I began to have some serious doubts as to the possibility of my becoming a for real serious artist. While I was confident that I could draw, I did not believe that I had enough skill or creative ideas to be able to consistently create great works of art.
About the same time, I found that I began to shift my focus to writing. I write poetry and short stories, and often try my hand at novels, and screenplays. Many of my poems have been published both in print and online in magazines such as Strange Horizons, Bear Creek Haiku, ChiZine, Perigee, and others.
Throughout the years, I have continued to toy with art, however, periodically sketching, creating collages, and so forth for the simple enjoyment of doing it and the long desire to improve. For a while now, I’ve been thinking about creating an art blog to keep me motivated creatively, but never settled into it. Recently I decided I liked the idea of incorporating my poetry into art pieces, so it was time to get this started.
I plan to post pages from my journal, sketches, collage, and poetry-art, as well as a few poems themselves. I may also make art world posts and poetry and art book reviews, if I feel so inclined.
Here’s hoping that I can distill the chaos of my mind and the world around me into something beautiful. Cheers!
